The EIN and the IRS fee
An EIN is a federal tax identification number issued by the IRS. The IRS does not charge to issue it. Any quotation from icom LLC concerns assistance with the application, separately from the IRS’s free service. You can apply directly through an eligible IRS channel.
Before an application
For an LLC, complete state formation first. Have the exact legal name, formation details, business address and responsible-party information ready. Confirm whether an EIN has already been assigned so a duplicate application is not made unnecessarily.
Selecting the application route
The IRS online application has location and responsible-party identification requirements. If your situation does not qualify online, check the IRS instructions for other application methods. Do not assume that every international owner can apply online or will receive a number immediately.
Review and confirmation
Check spelling and addresses before submission. The agency controls processing and may request clarification. Keep the IRS confirmation with company records when received. An EIN does not, by itself, determine tax obligations, approve a bank account or authorize work in the United States.
